Coaches Meeting

Each season Westside Soccer Club will hold a coaches meeting. This meeting is designed to inform coaches about any changes that may have occurred for the upcoming season and to provide more details for coaches about the requirements Westside Soccer Club has to be a coach/volunteer.

MAKE SURE TO COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS --THESE MUST BE DONE TO BE CONFIRMED AS A COACH, ASSISTANT COACH, OR PARENT VOLUNTEER AND TO BE ASSIGNED TO A TEAM WITH WESTSIDE SOCCER CLUB

INSTRUCTIONS FOR OYSA BACKGROUND CHECK: (Print these instructions and have them along with your driver's license available when you register. The process takes less than five minutes)

  • Go to oysa-westside.sportsaffinity.com
  • Click on REGISTRATION (upper right area of screen) PLEASE ONLY USE THIS WAY TO COMPLETE BACKGROUND CHECK
  • Select Season-Fall 19/20 (left side of screen)
  • Select Registration type-Coach/Admin (left side of screen)
  • Enter your username/password. Create a new account ONLY if you have never completed a background check using the Affinity system with OYSA.
  • Click CONTINUE
  • Find your name on page and CLICK on Register as Coach/Admin
  • Play level--Recreational
  • Update personal info as needed
  • Answer Association Additional Information questions
  • Click SAVE & NEXT PAGE
  • Read and accept ELAs
  • Click AGREE & CONTINUE
  • No payment due, CONTINUE
  • Registration Complete!!
  • If you have questions about completing your background check or are unsure about your username and password, you can contact OYSA at 503-626-4625 and speak with the State Registrar.
  • If you have coached in Oregon with another soccer organization, you may be in the Affinity system already, please do not create a new account, contact OYSA for your username.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR CONCUSSION AWARENESS TRAINING

This must be current for 2019 to be confirmed and assigned to a team.

The 2013 Oregon Legislature adopted SB 721 which has been enrolled as 2013 Oregon Laws Chapter 489. The new legislation imposes requirements that affect all OYSA member clubs.

As a coach for Westside Soccer Club, it is now required for you to participate in Concussion Awareness Education and training. Please follow the instructions below to complete the training and receive credit. This is required before you can be confirmed as a coach for the club. You DO NOT need to print and return the certificate to the office. We will check the database and confirm your training certificate.

****Please make sure to use a computer/tablet to complete this training, it does not work correctly when using a mobile device****

- Go to https://nfhslearn.com/courses/61037/concussion-in-sports (May need to copy/paste the link in browser window) *The course that needs to be completed is "Concussion in Sports" "** please make sure you have selected the correct course!

  • Click on "ORDER COURSE"
  • If first time user. Click on "Register Now", if not, new please sign in using your username and password
  • Complete registration information and click on "submit Registration"
  • Login using your newly registered account.
  • Click on "ORDER COURSE"
  • Choose "I am ordering a course for myself" and click "Continue"
  • Choose "Oregon" for State and "Save", and then "checkout"
  • Click on "Complete purchase"
  • On your receipt, there will be a link to your course. Then click "Begin" to complete your training.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SAFESPORT MANDATORY REPORTING POLICY

On February 14, 2018, the Protecting Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and Safe Sport Authorization Act of 2017 was signed into law. The bill amends the Victims of Child Abuse Act of 1990 to extend the duty to report suspected child abuse, including sexual abuse, within 24 hours to all adults who are authorized to interact with minor or amateur athletes by a national governing body, a member of a national governing body, or an amateur sports organization that participates in interstate or international amateur athletic competition.

NFHS has online SafeSport training you need to complete each year before we can confirm you as a coach and assign you to a Westside Soccer team.

Please complete the following steps:

  1. Go to: https://nfhslearn.com/courses/61157/protecting-students-from-abuse
  2. Register if it is your first time to the sight or Sign-in if you have an account (right hand corner)
  3. PROTECTING STUDENTS FROM ABUSE - click on "Order Course"
  4. This course(s) will be completed by: select "Myself" then continue
  5. Your Shopping Cart select "Checkout" (Note - Oregon should be listed under State)
  6. Select the box for: "I agree to the NFHS No Refund Policy for online education courses, except for inadvertent duplicate purchases." Then select "Continue"
  7. "Your Order Receipt" will appear
  8. Go to "Dashboard" (top of the screen)
  9. It may ask you to confirm your email address
  10. Your course should appear under "My Courses" click on "Begin Course"
  11. When training is complete you need to fill out the evaluation to be able to download your certificate. Once you have your certificate email it to:
